You'll be able to still talk in gamechat on the playstation, but also will be able to talk in discord on your PC at the same time. What you're going to want to do is have the USB plugged into your playstation (it worked perfectly on my PS4), and the XLR routing to the mixer into your PC. Not only that, but it can record double ended, which means it is outputting to USB and to XLR at the same time. It isn't a very nice boom arm, but it works perfectly fine.Īside from the microphone sounding awesome, it also has a VERY key feature to making this setup work. You can shop around as there are a bunch of different bundles available (some with cheap headphones even) but I went with this $100 one that came with a boom arm. It basically won't pick up anything unless it is 2-3 inches in front of your mouth. ![]() This means that it is EXCELLENT at rejecting background noise which is why so many podcasts use them. It is a dynamic mic rather than a condensor mic like most of the budget mics you see. The one I went with and cannot recommend enough is the Samson Q2U. Having a mic strapped to your head is convenient, but you won't get the background noise isolation you're looking for with most mics that clip on to headphones. Next thing I'd highly recommend is investing into an external mic. Read the manual, watch a couple youtube videos explaining the mixer or 2PC setups that use a mixer and you will figure it out. Mixers can look scary and intimidating because there are so many knobs, but once you understand what all the knobs are doing it becomes pretty straightforward. Key thing you want to make sure of is that it has a USB input/output to connect to your main PC. I recommend you pick up a cheap ~$50-$75 Behringer mixer on Amazon. However, what you're really asking for is a mixer. Most 'gamer' or consumer focused gear doesn't have the ability to use dials to independently increase and decrease the volume of 2 different inputs. I recommend that you look into commercial gear. ![]() I had a similar use case to you a while ago with a 2 PC setup. This is a pretty tall order, not many devices can accomplish all of what you need, and the ones that do are usually a lot more than $300.
